Abita Springs Busker Festival, Sunday April 7th

The Abita Springs Busker Festival is an annual celebration of Louisiana’s rich musical heritage, bringing together some of the best musicians from the New Orleans area and beyond. This free, family-friendly event takes place on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at the Abita Beer Stage in Abita Springs Park.

A busker is a street performer who works for tips, and the festival was established to preserve and present Louisiana roots music. Over the past twelve years, the festival has grown in popularity, attracting music lovers from near and far.

The 2024 lineup features an impressive array of talented acts, including Miss Martha & Her Goodtime Gang, Nola Rhythm Method, Bad Penny, Zach Bryson, Jackson and the Janks, and the renowned Tuba Skinny. These musicians will take the stage throughout the day, providing a lively and authentic musical experience for attendees.

While the festival is called a “busker festival,” it is not actually an opportunity for busking. Instead, it is a curated concert and festival sponsored by the Abita Springs Opry and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival & Foundation, Inc. The goal is to showcase and celebrate Louisiana’s rich musical traditions in a family-friendly setting.Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, sunscreen, and dancing shoes to fully immerse themselves in the festival atmosphere. Food, drinks, and craft vendors will also be on site, offering a variety of local fare and artisanal goods.

Parking can be a challenge, but the festival organizers have provided some helpful tips. Attendees can look for parking across Highway 59 behind Mama D’s, on neighboring streets, or at the Middle School lot, which usually fills up by noon. The Park & Ride area is also an option, but it will require a short walk along the Tammany Trace to reach the festival grounds.
