Baton Rouge Blues Festival Lets Geaux Louisiana

The Baton Rouge Blues Festival is a free, annual music festival that celebrates the rich swamp blues tradition of the Louisiana capital region. Taking place over three days from April 19-21, 2024, the festival features a diverse lineup of acclaimed blues artists, including the legendary harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite, blues-rock icon Elvin Bishop, the high-energy and soulful Black Joe Lewis, the dynamic singer-songwriter Jackie Venson, and many more acclaimed performers.

The festival is organized by the Baton Rouge Blues Festival & Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the swamp blues music and culture native to Baton Rouge. The festival is the foundation’s largest annual project, drawing thousands of attendees to the vibrant downtown Baton Rouge area surrounding North Boulevard. The festival’s free admission and community-driven approach make it an accessible and inclusive celebration of the blues genre.

Experiencing the Festival

In addition to the free general admission, the festival offers a VIP “BFF” (Blues Fest Friend) pass that provides exclusive access to an indoor lounge, a tented main stage viewing area with premium seating, a rooftop terrace overlooking the festivities, an open bar, and gourmet food catered by some of Baton Rouge’s best local restaurants. This premium experience allows blues fans to enjoy the festival in comfort and style, with access to amenities and experiences not available to general admission attendees.

The festival also features dozens of local food, art, and craft vendors, with applications accepted on a rolling basis. Attendees can browse the vibrant vendor village, sample authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine, and discover unique handmade crafts, artwork, and other locally-sourced products.
